Blame Lily

It’s All About The Music

“This music is the type that bridges the gaps between genres”.

There’s a little bit of everything in Blame Lily’s music for people everywhere. But with such an eclectic background from both musicians, it’s not surprising they’ve managed to create this effect.

It’s been a long road for Melbourne-based acoustic duo, Blame Lily, to take those difficult first steps into the world of music performance, with different obstacles thrown up at every turn. But now they’re here and they plan to stay. They’ve got emotional tunes a-plenty, and riffs that vary from the ska-inspired tune “Be Alright” to their metal ballad-inspired “Dear Sir”. They’ve got your typical, acoustic ballad in “Autumn Song”, right there with the rockier “Cut Me Clean”. Each song, while having a noticeable influence from various music genres, remains rooted in the folk tradition of the acoustic guitar and unaffected vocals and harmonies to produce a cruisy sound that somehow manages to appeal to people across the board.

So, take one Melbourne born-and-bred guitarist who’s major influences include Joe Strummer, Brian Setzer, Paul Kelly, a whole lot of punk, ska, rockabilly, metal, folk and rock to name just a few. Then add one pint-sized singer with training in jazz, Broadway and contemporary music with influences from the likes of Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, Cindy Lauper, James Hetfield, Roy Orbison, and Elvis, who calls herself a ‘metalhead’ but who enjoys listening to everything from folk and country to hard-core metal and back again. Stir gently, and then let simmer. The result is a delicious blend of smooth vocals, dynamic riffs and insightful lyrics to please the ear. ..
