Chase Coy
Hey my name is Chase.
A little less than a year ago, I sat down to write a bio similar to this one, seated on a piano bench in my boyhood home in Greenwood, IN.
Since then, I’ve released an album on a major label, signed a publishing deal, toured the country, been dropped by that same label, and now here I am: back to square one. Or perhaps that’s a poor way of saying it…
You see, although it’s easy to step back and assume that I’m back to where I started when I began this journey, that couldn’t be further from the truth. This past year has stretched me in so many ways that I wasn’t expecting.
Certain things went better than expected, and others were disappointing and at times frustrating, but through it all, I learned to appreciate the wonderful people in my life who were there to support me: my family, friends, and fans.
As I sat down to begin writing songs for this album, I found that my attitude about a lot of things had changed. Something strange was happening: the further I travelled and the more time I spent away from Indiana, the more I found myself longing for home. As I grew a bit older and began reminiscing, I found that my outlook about a lot of my life experiences were very different than they were when I was in the midst of those situations.
Taking this newfound outlook on life, I began to write for Indiana Sun. Working in my basement studio again for the first time in over two years, I began to flesh out my vision for this album: I wanted to make a record that was more mature both lyrically and musically, and I hope that is what you hear when you listen to it.
I wrote this record for myself, to encourage and to commiserate with my own feelings and life experiences, but I hope that it can stretch itself to apply to your life as well, and that when you listen to it, you can grow and mature in the same way I feel I have while making it.
No matter what happens, just know that the number one thing I have realized while making this album is this: I have no idea what lies ahead for me, but I am honored and blessed to be surrounded and supported by the wonderful family, friends, and fans who got me through this past year.
These songs are my thoughts and feelings; my memories and my rescue when I need it most. This is the music that helps me make sense of the world when nothing else can, and I only hope that it can do the same for you.
This is Indiana Sun.
