About me:

.. ..

Since its inception in April 2007 Tag Promotions has been hugely successful as regards fulfilling its mission statement. The support directors Dave and Sarah Page have received from various people and organisations has been, to say the least, rather overwhelming and a most humbling experience, and has made the journey for them an incredibly enjoyable one. The people referred to here include DJs both local and international, nightclub owners and staff, suppliers and contractors, touring agents both local and international, media, sponsors and of course the most important ingredient of all, their guests that have supported Tag Promotions by attending their events in large numbers.

Tag Promotions is, in the scheme of things, very new to Auckland’s nightclub industry but Dave Page has been at the forefront of New Zealand’s Breakbeat scene since its beginnings and even before Tag Promotions was set up had been responsible for bringing to NZ such acts, among others, as Aquasky, Deekline & Wizard, Stanton Warriors, The Breakfastaz, Phil K, Kid Kenobi & MC Shureshock, BLIM, Rennie Pilgrem, Precision Cuts, Lee Coombs, Klaus ‘Heavy Weight’ Hill, Meat Katie, The Rogue Element, Defcon1, DJ Mutiny, Friendly and Tipper. He is responsible also for legendary local nights such as Breakers Delight, an event that is part of the very foundation of Auckland’s breakbeat scene as we know it today, and NuBreaks, a night that encourages upcoming DJs to get out of the bedroom and into a bar environment with the goal being to create an environment that would pave the way for the next generation of breaks DJs. NuBreaks claims to be one of New Zealand’s longest running weekly club nights. Dave will also lay claim to having been responsible for dumping a great portion of the breakbeat records in existence on unsuspecting Auckland DJs, having pushed the sound in record stores for around seven years. Dave has pushed the breakbeat sound on radio for many years also, and currently holds down the Tag Radio show on George Fm every Wednesday night, 6pm until 8pm.

Sarah Page is responsible for the rise to fame of the electronica band known as Antiform who are creating waves on a global scale. Since their first release in 2003 on a local compilation, Auckland based trio Antiform have been refining their studio mastery and live sets. In 2007 Antiform came of age and under Sarah’s management their first major release was the breakbeat stomper, ‘Boombox’, that was quickly snapped up and released by one of the world’s leading Breakbeat labels, Hardcore Beats. This was the catalyst for the veritable flood of dance floor anthems soon to follow and helped in their being nominated for Best Breakthrough DJ at the Breakspoll 2008 awards in the UK. With their follow up single with Tiki Taane, ‘Got To Be You’, Antiform have really delivered not only a peak time club anthem but also a smash hit for radio and television. A radio edit was made for the digital sales market in New Zealand and having been in the charts for over a month it has reached the number three spot and is still climbing. It is a record that has already gained anthem status in New Zealand and has been released on 12” vinyl format on Broke Records. The huge music video release, already being played by the major music television stations in New Zealand, is set to be viewed on music television throughout Europe. Sarah has huge plans for the band with many single releases, further music video projects, national and international tours and an album release. And that’s just for this year!

Tag Promotions has held more than twenty events since April 2007 featuring the following visiting artists: Adam Freeland (uk) Aquasky (uk) Baobinga & ID (uk) CtrlZ (uk) Deekline & Wizard (uk) Defcon1 (australia) Freq Nasty (uk) Friendly (uk) Hyper (uk) Jono Fernandez (australia) Koma & Bones (uk) Madox (italy) Meat Katie (uk) Merka (uk) Napt (uk) Nick Thayer (australia) Nick Thayer (australia) Rennie Pilgrem (uk) Tayo (uk) The Autobots (uk) The Breakfastaz (uk) The Freestylers (uk) The Rogue Element (uk) The Scratch Perverts (uk) Combined, these events have seen well over fifteen thousand in attendance and Tag Promotions would like to lay the claim, fully welcoming in good spirit (and ready to stand corrected) any challenge to that claim, that no other promoter in the history of dance music in this country has put on as many successful events, featuring as many foreign artists in the amount of time that Tag Promotions has done.

The future is indeed a bright one with many more Auckland events and national tours in the pipeline featuring all your international and local favourites and a host of unsuspecting first time visitors to break in. Whatever the event will be Tag Promotions guarantees a fun time for all…
