Bio
I have the pleasure & privilege of playing drums in a small handful of bands at present: The Cabarettos (blues/jazz/soul/pop/rock 'n' roll coverband) Urban Creatures (blues/jazz/country/folk/funk, playing originals & covers) Andrew Higgs Band (Original Blues/Roots/Rock) I'm performing the occasional gig with singer/songwriter: Tom Tuena (www.myspace.com/tomtuena) Also working on constructing a new band with a talented bunch of musos, doing soul, funk and motown styled tunes - classics and originals - band name to be confirmed (watch this space)... There's always other projects on the go, be they in the studio or on stage, or organising one event or another, but these are the core bands I'm working with for the minute... I'm the Director and President of Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival Inc. and proud to work with a mammoth team of fantastic people on the festival that will kick off in November 2011. Many, many moons ago, a younger/stupider version of me used playing in bands as an excuse to get as drunk as possible as often as possible. Thankfully things have changed dramatically for the better. With the ever more distant boozehound lifestyle extinguished for good, my passion for playing (not to mention life in general) is far greater than I ever could have imagined before... I have an undying love for the sport of boxing. It's the only sport that I've ever been interested in. It's in my blood. I stay as involved in the sport as much as my family and music commitments allow. I have a couple of private students I teach to box & occasionally still manage to lend a hand (or two) at the local boxing gyms when I can - in between being a dedicated husband, newish dad, working my day job at Bendigo Bank & rehearsing or gigging with one band or another... Apart from my precious family (& my sobriety), making music with my friends is the gift I apreciate the most.
