Bio
.... After three EPs, extensive gigging and interstate touring, Sydney four-piece Found At Sea are gearing up to release their debut full-length album .... Lumières.... in June 2010. .... Recorded and mixed by ARIA winning producer Paul McKercher (Augie March, Sarah Blasko, You Am I, Midnight Oil), ..Lumières.. is a diverse blend of lyrical indie mood pop, drawing from influences including Bluebottle Kiss, Neil Young, Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. .... Starting with the urgent, swinging intro of Silver Light, a song about the space between dreaming and awake, Lumieres explores a range of emotional territory through a combination of songwriter/lead vocalist Ryan Linnegar’s impressionist lyrical style and the twisting, dynamic instrumental backing of his band members. .... These are songs of memory and ghosts and seeing things slipping past in sepia hues. Of driving under stars at night with city lights in the mirrors and the road pushing onwards; Of liberation in being invisible; conversations that mean nothing and everything, and the tide always changing. .... Strangers in the backyard is the first single supporting the release of Lumières. A narrative based on the concept of waking up with no identity or history, lead vocalist Ryan Linnegar takes the listener on a vivid journey that swings between extremes of emotional intensity. .... Formed in 2004, the band have spent the last 6 years honing their songwriting and live performance skills, garnering critical praise along the way. .... "..Lumieres.. is a beautiful example of how melodic rock and storytelling still has a place in the modern music scene..." - The Dwarf .... Lumières is distributed exclusively through The A&R Department, and available digitally on Itunes and through http://www.foundatsea.net .... Contact: info@foundatsea.net .... ..Past press words & musings: .. .... “skillful composition, complex dynamics and striking melodies... luciously melancholy, supported by sprawling instrumental ability...Your new favourite band" - Claire Jarret and Garret Bithell, The Brag .... "4/5" Caroline Tran, Triple J Radio .... "It's hard not to like their brand of unpretentious indie" - Andrew P. Street, Drum Media .... ..GRAND FINALISTS Annandale Hotel's Jager Uprising Competition 2009.. -
