Bio
Garry David formed sometime 2001 in Sydney, because they'd had enough of carving up loungerooms in Datebait or My Johnson, pretending to be an X/Aus rock covers band, a bunch of party posers. It was then that they decided it was time to finally play their local, and do some songs of their own, naming the band after an infamous Melbourne guy who kept getting locked up, hence the title of their first recording, 'Australia's Nelson Mandela', produced by Sire Geoff Holmes (X, Ed Keupper, amongst many other things) at the Clubhouse in Glebe in the spring of 2002. They followed this up sometime later with 'A Long Walk to Sodom' which was recorded in March 2010 at the same place in Sydney; this time recorded and mastered by Tim Newsom (ex Trout Fishing in Quebec). On the recording is our new found guitarist Mike Corey, who played with Justin in an early Whopping Big Naughty lineup, as well as Thou Gideon (Perth) and Diolene from that same city. Infact GD played over a dozen or shows from October 2009 to August 2010, due to Blunt visiting from China at the time. Although, it's all been a bit of a headswirl, a little haphazard, and ubiquitous, we're still doing it when we can and when we practice we still seem to dig it:) much thanks going there to friends in Sydney who help us with shows, bookers, and our audience. John and Justin are still busy doing what they love most - John back on tubs for the reformed Crow (how sweet that is), and also hitting for King Pest from time to time. Justin can be seen and definitely heard in the eternal and grand Shouties, the very good Momo's, and the fucking fantastic Whopping Big Naughty. So if you can't see them with Dale, Mike, and I, best you check out their other projects. -

Influences
that good old Australian diet of feedtime, Venom P Stinger and Nunbait (all RIP) Whopping Big Naughty, The Drones, Holy Soul, and Crow ... abroad it's Japanese and Beijing punk post punk experimental caper, + a list too long to mention now - but I guess you know the types, the ones that bubble under the surface, keep u thinking, those who keep it honest, real, a little different, awkward even, neither mono centric and most likely not market dictated -
Sounds Like
