  • Introducing the GTM Myspace Roving Reporter

Congratulations to Lauren Torres-Skipper, the GTM Myspace Roving Reporter for 2010.

Lauren will be roving around with the Myspace camera crew reporting at GTM Canberra this weekend. We asked her a few questions as she prepares for Sunday.

    1. What was your motivation for entering the GTM Myspace Roving Reporter competition?

I've always had an interest in hosting shows and interviewing bands, so when I was browsing on Myspace one day I noticed the competition, I decided to see if I would be witty enough to win it and see if its a career path I really would like to consider.

    2. What two bands are you most interested in interviewing? Why?

I'm really quite excited to see British India and Vampire Weekend. I have seen British India a few years ago and absolutely loved them! I went out and bought their album a few days after the gig. With Vampire Weekend, I just love the randomness of their songs and really enjoy listening to them when I'm relaxing at home.

    3. What are your areas of focus in capturing GTM Canberra on Sunday?

I'm going to be focusing a lot on the crowds experience of the show, hopefully getting some crazy stories or moments that they will never forget. I know that I have a few of those moments myself and would just love to tell as many people as possible.

    4. What can we expect from the Canberra crowd?

Hopefully the Canberra crowd will blow any other crowd out of the water! Canberra people do love a good party, and we love a good festival even more.

Stay tuned for Lauren's footage from GTM Canberra.
  • Attention GTM Bendigo Patrons

The GTM 2010 National Tour kicked off over the weekend with the Bendigo and Townsville events back to back! After reaching a sell out the night before the event, Townsville audiences revelled in a day of beautiful weather at a brand new venue that facilitated the perfect festival vibe! While the sun and artist performances shone at both events, the GTM Event team acknowledges that some patrons were inconvenienced and experienced extensive delays when entering the Bendigo event. An unprecedented number of patrons arrived at the Bendigo’s Prince of Wales Showground very early in the day, and as a result delays occurred. “Since 2005 we’ve run over twelve GTM events around the country, and we have never experienced that amount of traffic entering an event at the one time,” promoter of GTM Stephen Halpin said. “There is several months of planning behind every GTM event to ensure a smooth, safe, enjoyable and hassle free experience as possible for our patrons. “There were no delays like this at the first ever GTM event in Bendigo last year, or at any of our previous twelve events around Australia. “Our front gate system at the Bendigo event this year was based on previous patterns and trends of people arriving at our events. This year, however was very different, an unprecedented number of people arrived at the same time and much earlier than usual and as a result, there were delays.” Stephen said. “GTM prides itself on taking an amazing array of artists into various regions of Australia and putting on a great day out. We share the disappointment and understand the frustration that some of our patrons experienced in Bendigo,” Stephen said. He also went on to say, "GTM understands and respects the criticism we are receiving and we want to assure you that these delays were not due to lack of care or trying to cut corners. It does not reflect the hard work and professionalism of everyone at GTM. We have run 12 very successful generally drama free festivals over the past 6 years, including a great show on Sunday in Townsville. Thanks for your feedback and it will be taken on board for next year". Issued on behalf of Cattleyard Promotions. Please direct any further enquiries to info@enkompass.com.au.
