GYPSY BROWN
Gypsy Brown is the creation and brain child of Elvis Aljus a renowned producer,drummer, percussionist and recording artist.

The word Gypsy means 'one inclined to a nomadic, unconventional way of life' and Brownis a colour (found in tree trunks and dirt) so by nature, Elvis steers the GypsyBrown sound into an eclectic mix of grooves and sounds that gets people movingand shakin on the dance floor.

Staying true to the name, the music reflects an unconventional, vagabond sound combining andworking within a mix of genres and styles. In the Gypsy Brown world musical genres come together and explode to createa fusion of sounds, that take influence from funk, Latin, reggae and all bits in-between …the music can’t bepigeon-holed, leaving you wanting more.

Elvis has played with and recorded alongside some of the most respected musicians in theindustry. Melbourne Ska Orchestra,Mo Horizons (Germany), Breakestra (USA), Joe Bataan(USA), The Bamboos, DanielMerriweather and Nouvelle Vague(France) have all danced with the gypsy.

Gypsy Brown first unleashed on to the scene with debut single Life’s a Trip released independently through Freestyle Records in the UK. The track was later released onFreestyles’ Fresh Out Of The Boxcompilation as a remix by Mo’ Horizons,which led to a collaboration with them on a track called ‘Back To Melbourne’. This track featured on Mo Horizons and the Banana Lounge System released through AgogoRecords.

Acclaimedproducer John Castle (Washington,The Cat Empire, Lior, The Bamboos, The Drones) worked with Elvis to take GypsyBrown to new creative heights and cover of classic 70’s track Stepping Stones by Johnny Harris- whichwas released on The Soul of Melbourne compilationalbum.

Gypsy Brownare on the verge of releasing abrand new single Jungle Strut, a high energy combination of classic 70s vibemeets modern R&B- the perfect soundtrack to summer.
