Many many things - something you can't quite put your finger on unless you're trying to come up with a particular 'sound' which I never have been. But some of my songs have been written directly after hearing or seeing particular acts or subconscious influences which include: silverchair, Tori Amos, a song in a 1940s(?) songbook...and then more broadly by The Police, Rebecca's Empire, The Cure and Rage Against the Machine (well they all influenced particular lines or sounds in songs) and then other artists i've liked songs or whole albums of(!) of which may or may not have influenced my songwriting include: Frente, Alanis Morisette, Sting, Sade, Jewel, Neil Young, Something for Kate, Depeche Mode (Violator would be my 'desert island disc'), Leonardo's Bride, Madonna's first two albums, the Clouds, Morissey..........t

Bio:

Heidi is a songwriter/singer who accompanies herself on guitar. She has performed around the place at pubs and events including gallery openings political rallies, and live (and not) on local radio. She also sometimes plays at markets and other busking 'venues' which she loves the most due to the 'realness' of the music/people thing if you get ma drift! Heidi has recorded a band EP as Heidegger (her alias) and has a solo cd available (listen to some of the songs here). Heidi is a member of the Australian Songwriter's Association and once made it as a top twenty finalist in the alt/pop rock category with her song “Not a Sign” (it's on unearthed site). Her other main claim to fame is sharing the stage with Eddie Vedder to perform a duet of 'Leader of the Pack'. One of the last two statements is untrue.(No, I can't rave about all the support spots I've done with the beautiful and famous either.....except Psycho Zydeco, my bro's band till recently, who are the Panic! At the Disco of the Zydeco scene.....or maybe the Rolling Stones...) That's about all the name dropping I can do... Heidi has sung vocals for a trance track by Fabrik Europa (see www.fabrikeuropa.com and listen to "Oasis" if you please :) Heidi's main forte is writing lyrics and has written for other people, so if you need some she could give it a go. Heidi sometimes gigs with other musicians including djembe and the standard (but beautiful!) drums, bass, lead guitar and is on the look out for any musicians to form a band with, to either do her songs or come up with new stuff or interesting covers. ..
