..This Sunday the 27th of June will see the return of the Bendigo Bandroom to the local music scene, with an event to be held at the old Freemason Hall in Eaglehawk... .. The Bandroom was first established 6 years ago by the Independent Musos Network and provides people of all ages with the opportunity to perform or experience live music of all genres. .. .. The Bandroom also allows musicians to gain experience within the music industry and learn networking skills; as well as gaining experience in the producing and performance of live music... .. The Bandroom was first housed in the PUB building in Hargreaves Street, but opted for a new location as it was not suitable for all ages, as it was a licensed venue... .. A new home was then found at the Old Bendigo Goal, which not only provided a space for those with a passion for music to inhabit, but it also provided youth with a look into the Heritage of Bendigo. .... However as the premises were asked to be vacated, the Bandroom found its self in the old TAB building for a while and then became homeless... .. Sunday will see the opening and the beginning of a new life for the Bandroom at the old Freemason Hall in Eaglehawk... .. As the Bandroom receives no Government funding and relies heavily on volunteers and members to survive, they have finally been given the opportunity to start up again... .. IMN founder Anita Donlon commented that the ‘centre will see two community groups-Independent Musos Network Inc and Central Victorian Youth Directions Inc, come together to develop a much needed space and safe haven for all ages of community who play or enjoy music of all genres’. .. .. The event will begin at 12 noon with an $8 entry free and will showcase a number of musical acts including; Sydney prog rock band Friar Rush, Alan Barns Classic Aussie Rock Show, Bendigo act Dead Light District and Geelong group Damnation Day... ..
