Follow You Into The Dark - by Death Cab For Cutie

2011 started with a prestigious gig at Sydney’s renowned music venue, The Basement. Drawing on an emerging folk sensibility, Katie played alongside seasoned Australian musicians Elana Stone, Brian Campeau, Leroy Lee, Danny Widdicombe and Andrew Morris in a stunning tribute to the songs of Nick Drake and Judee Sill. Katie also worked with UK band PBS6 on their debut release in 2009. She and UK musician, Will Lang, collaboratively wrote several of the tracks on the album 'Pilot – Going Down'. Katie Wighton is just as at home fronting her band and belting out originals as she is re-interpreting the works of others accompanying herself on a baby grand. In 2011, she’s looking forward to more gigs and festivals and heaps more writing. “Katie proves that it's still possible to write cute love songs without them feeling trite or cliched. It was honest, casual and refreshingly well, fresh! An absolute privelege to hear and watch.”Andrew Curnock, Beat Therapy. What You Do.

"The whole thing is like ghosts of femme-pop past, with a mixture of swinging, dancey tracks and heartfelt bluesy numbers. And damn, does that girl have a set of pipes!"
Jodi Biddle, Passenger Side, September 2010

"She clearly understands what makes a catchy melody and applies this knowledge with a deadly-but-spirited precision."
Rave Magazine, 2010
