Maiko Sakurai Karner decided to go after her passion and her dreams and decided to create her own innovative fashion label maiko, in 2004. Her style was chosen in indication of her lifestyle and it should reflect and embody herself, such as maikos devotion to nature and her existence that fulfils the details of her work. The base of her work has a hidden notice, her roots that she will never leave in the background. Therefore her collections have always a touch of Asian illustration. The timeless, uncomplicated but still fairy-looking style also expresses the nature and earth. With the existence of such creativity, her collections are uncomplicated and comfortable to wear and they do bring the woman out of all of us. Simple but elegant is the target of her style, which includes extravagant details with the aim of maikos devotion. Nature-colours make the collection ordinary and not too obtrusive. Her label certainly represents her origin, as it points out her Eurasian descent, her Japanese and Austrian background makes this label unique. The meaning of "maiko" comes from the Japanese language and it is also her first given birth name, Maiko Sakurai Karner. It means the "little dancer". The motive of her brand points out the family crest of this young and innovative lady and it also signifies her Japanese last name: Sakurai.
