I am Wolf.
It is my cry you hear in the night,
My eyes that gaze at you from the shadows.
It is my heart that beats in your Soul,
My strength that makes you whole.
I am Wolf. I am in you.
You are in Me. We Are Wolf.
He's been worshiped
And he's been feared,
He's been pushed from state
to state thru the years.
But now we know him
Now we understand,
The fragile balance
Between nature and man.
He's the call of the wild
with a spirit strong and true,
And each and every child
Should have the chance
To listen to the call of the wild.
Brother to brother
Father to son,
Have told the stories
Of this nobile one.
Proud as an eagle
And free as the wind,
And you can hear him
If you only listen.
You'll hear the call of the wild
With a spirit strong and true,
And each and every child
Should have the chance
To listen to the call of the wild.
Please let them hear
The call of the wild.
May Wolf ever walk beside you
and grant you rest in his shadow.
May his paws ever guide your paths
and your howls be heard by all.
To look into the eyes of a wolf is to see your own soul ...
Treat the earth well.
It was not given to you by your parents,
it was loaned to you by your children.
We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors,
we borrow it from our Children.
Try to understand the spirit of the wolf in the wild and other animals. Love them, help when they need your help. They are wild and free.
Great spirit watch over me
Through the darkness of the night
As I go to quell my hunger
Guide me with the moon's lightI know that I am hated
By Man deep within his mind
But this world is one of the predator
That is how it was designed I ask only to be left in peace
So that I may live from day to day
And for room to raise my family
So they may run and feed and play And when I answer that final lonesome howl
As my ancestors who have gone on before
I hope that I will meet them
At heavens very doorI pray that will be the place
Where man can live at our side
Where the valleys are deep, mountains are high
and the spaces are forever wide That then he may finally see
That I am his brother and not his foe
for only through losing hatred
May our spirits ever grow

It's so hard to find the perfect breeze,
One blowing none too hard nor soft,
Carrying a scent of wild flowers,
And moving clouds about aloft.
It's so hard to find the perfect sky,
One blue and deep and bright,
Carrying a sense of openness
With geese and wrens in flight.
It's so hard to find the perfect night,
One warm, quiet and unflawed,
Carrying a mood of solitude,
And a closeness to our God.
Yet no perfection's so hard to find
As that which you extend
And none I'll ever treasure more,
Than to simply be your friend.

He stands on a snow-covered slope, head arched toward the moon. His cry pierces the valleys and echoes for miles. It is a cry that has inspired legends, fueled myths, stirred up fear and loathing."He is the "big, bad wolf" of nursery stories. He is the fierce predator who circles the camp. He is the enemy, the invader, the spoiler."And he is the most maligned of creatures. He is carnivorous, yes, but so are most humans. He is also a faithful monogamous spouse to his mate. She is a devoted mother, playing with her pups, teaching them the ways of the wild. They are both community creatures with an intricate social webbing."Lone Wolves"Young 'lone wolves' eventually leave their pack, venturing out into the wilderness — solitary figures seeking new territory and a possible mate. Theirs is a heroic quest, for all they have known from youth has been the den, the pack and the communal hunt. Their trek may take them over a four hundred square mile territory."The Hunt"The wolf pack hunts what they need. Faithful to their instincts, they trek through the winter snows, following the herds. Their lives too are an everyday adventure and challenge."All things considered, theirs is a fair fight; not so when they are the prey — they are hunted and hounded from airplanes and helicopters, shot like fish in a barrel."Humans seem to find it easy to hate the wolves, to despise their ways. Why? Could it be because we cannot bear to face and free up the wild wolf man or the wild woman who lives beneath the frozen surfaces of our own lives?"We are not so different from the wolf and the pack as we might think. In fact, we may be projecting our own dysfunctions and winter calamities upon this ancient 'enemy.'
"Consider:"Winter challenges the wolf pack. The search for food will take the pack into the face of gales with subzero windchills, over ice, through snow fields in relentless pursuit. Have you experienced
. . . the windchill of opposition,
. . . the ice of prejudice,
. . . the freezing out of misunderstanding?"Sometimes in the wolf pack there is a struggle for dominance. There is a change of roles after such a struggle. Have you experienced
. . . the stress of family dysfunction,
. . . the anguish of divorce,
. . . the pain of separation,
. . . the ache from a straying, prodigal relative,
. . . the dissonance from sibling conflicts?"Sometimes in the wolf pack there is a scarcity of caribou or an overrun of territory — too many wolves, not enough prey. Have you experienced
. . . unemployment,
. . . down-sizing,
. . . friction with fellow workers?"Often in the wolf pack there is movement, change of climate, tough running in their pursuit of moving prey. Have you experienced
. . . moving from the familiar to the unfamiliar,
. . . stress from a rapid pace and increasing demands,
. . . confusion, as the demands of our culture accelerate with change?"Sooner or later, the 'lone wolf' strays out from the pack and howls against the moon? Have your experienced
. . . isolation,
. . . loneliness,
. . . alienation?"There is an energy in the wolf that sees them through the worst of their snowy days and frozen nights. Their call from the wild is one of exuberance: 'We are here! We belong here! We shall endure! We shall overcome!'"Our human call from our wilderness needs to be no less confident."

Spirit of the Wolf,
You who wanders the wild lands,
You who stalks in silent shadows,
You who runs and leaps
between the moss-covered trees,
lend me your primal strength,
and the wisdom of your glowing eyes.
Teach me to relentlessly track my desires.
And to stand in defense of those I love.
Show me the hidden paths and the moonlit fields.
Fierce Spirit,
Walk with me in my solitude
Howl with me in my joy
and
Guard me as I move through this world.
The moon was half the night you left,
Took to the sky with your last breathe,
The wind it whistled through your hair,
Your precious soul it filled the air.You howled goodbye to those you love,
Ran through the clouds up way above,
The night was dark but you felt content,
‘Cause this is where the good ones went. The ones you left, they mourn and cry,
They were not ready to say goodbye,
Your presence would fill the room with flare,
But now the room is cold and bare. When laid to rest the moon was crescent,
And all the ones you loved were present,
Memories shared and stories told,
About your life from young to old.One day our hearts will start to mend,
From losing a wife, a daughter, a friend,
And every time the moon is full,
We’ll raise our heads and we’ll see you
Whether one is watching a thrilling thunderstorm or looking up at a mighty tree, the experience of nature is one of awe.
One cannot help but marvel at the intricate design of a single leaf, or the roar of a great waterfall. Time spent in nature is time spent realizing that you don't know it all and that you never will.
A great place for a family to relate to each other is in the beauty of nature. Petty arguments and grudges fall to the wayside in the face of nature's majesty. The earth is meant to be enjoyed by its inhabitants. That includes keeping it in the pristine condition in which it was discovered. Everyone has a part of the earth that they relate to the most. Whether it is a majestic mountain range, a roaring waterfall, a bouquet of flowers, or the calm of the woods, these are places to get to know oneself and build bonds with family.
PLEASE HAVE A GREAT DAY MY DEAR FRIEND,LAUGH,LOVE AND LIVE,NEVER TAKE A SECOND FOR GRANTED!
MUCH PEACE AND RESPECT ALWAYS

Silently padding thru the moonlit forest,I approach ever so cautiously...Hidden by the dense brush,Two eyes, reflected by the moons white light, are seen...Watching...Waiting...Maintaining my distance,Near yet far enough for me to escape...I wonder will he beckon meWith acceptance or maim meWith glaring indifference or ridicle...I live within my fears,Manifested by ferocity...Hesitation...and solitude...Until the icy hardness has enveloped me, Frozen in time...Feeling a whispering chill...He looks up and sees nothing...While I watch in the shadows...At some point in your life You may of heard the inner call...I have...Some call it the "Wild or Wolf within"
Deep within her inner self There's a place she can go,Where the savage beast can not reach her,and her spirit is free to grow. Her body bruised and battered,From her mates hard and heavy hand,She escapes to wild freedom Like a shewolf free to roam the land She'll run in quiet solitude to where the mountains reach the sky,She'll rest and breathe a whoafulsigh,All her strength and all her courage has helped her to break away and has led her to a peaceful place Where forever she will stay
Today, the wolf represents all that which is wild and free. They call us to the last retreats of our vanishing wilderness, where their songs carry on the wind,a wild defiant sorrow.Roaming where few men dare, wolves pierce the silence with their powerful song. The howl begins low and melodious. The sound is lonely, haunting, surreal;as if the voices of our ancestors were howling through the canyons.Soon, the ridges resound with the chorus of a wolf pack on the prowl. Then, as the last note descends,it is quiet, as the winds whisper like spirits of ancient times.Remember that sound and treasure it.It is as old as time, wild as the windand as poetic as moonlight on snow.It is the trademark of the wolf.
If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of the spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts soon happens to man.- Chief Seattle

The main reason for reintroduction of the wolf is due to mans' mass destruction of the species due to fear and ignorance. Reintroducing the species back into the wild is the only way to help the wolf recovery.Even though there have been wolf deaths, the reintroduction program has been a huge success. As new pups are born each year into the Yellowstone Ecosystem the wolf population increases giving us, the public, a wonderful opportunity to witness the beauty of nature. About 260 gray wolves are believed to be living in Idaho, while Wyoming has about 218 wolves and Montana 85.Currently the opposition feels that the wolf is a great hunter of their livestock and that reintroducing the wolf back into the wild will cause them a hardship; however, according to the Montana Agricultural Statistic Service, state ranchers reported a total of 3,500 sheep were killed by loose dogs. Based on those figures, sheep in Montana are 1750 times more likely to be killed by a dog than a wolf. Also, common knowledge is that Defenders of Wildlife has set up a $100,000 fund to pay for any losses of livestock due to wolf predation. The other argument that people seem to press is the loss of other wildlife. According to records in Idaho, cow elk may have to be reduced by 10 – 15% to accommodate the wolf. There is no expected reduction in the harvest of deer, moose, bighorn sheep or mountain goats. As it states most of the reasons man fears the great wolf is due to its mystery, the myths man has created about the wolf and mans fear of the unknown. We must save the wolf before it is like the great Dodo bird, GONE FOREVER!
While on a quiet winter's journey, I heard the cry of Wolf.
I turned around in my surprise, to see her in my sights.
I said to her, "How do you do?"
She said, "I do just fine."
Then turned her head unto the moon, and so resumed her cry.
I said to her, "Why do you cry?"
She said, "I cry for you dear one."
I fell to my knees, raised my hands to the sky,
And proceeded to ask her why.
"For all of the tears you've never let fall, for all of your sorrow and pride.
For all of your loves and your hates, and your fears, for all of your unsaid
goodbyes."
All at once, she turned to me.............then turned once more to the moon.
I reached out to touch her and then she was gone.
She had left me way too soon.
I lifted my pack, and searched for the trail, covered with newfallen snow.
I thanked Mother Earth for this new lesson learned,
Then began to find my way home.
Wolves are mythic
in their size and beauty and the power they hold
over the human psyche.
If a wolf takes the trouble
to look you in the eyes, you will never forget it.
They arrived in the darkest part of the night and bade me follow. Was it a dream, was it real, or was it something in between? They were the ones I trust so completely that there were no questions asked - Grey Ghost and Shadow. I followed immediately. We traveled for some time, and then I found myself crawling silently through the snow, to the edge of a small cliff. What I saw made my stomach turn, my blood run cold, and my heart curl in on itself to deal with the horror. The sight in the valley was beyond anything I had seen before, anything I could imagine, and pray that I will never again behold. The pristine snow was soaked with the crimson lifeblood of the pack, spattered for meters around the site of the slaughter. Their skinned bodies thrown to the side with reckless abandon, to be left for the scavengers.Man had come by snow machine to this remote location, knowing that the pack must traverse the narrow pass in order to access their spring hunting ground. The humans laid in wait, their snow machines silent and hidden at each end of the pass beyond where it was narrow and the sides were steep .The pack was weary when they came to the pass - the light was fading, and they had been pushing hard the entire day. As they entered the pass, the old silver Alpha became alert to something that was not as it had been when they had last crossed this area. He was exhausted, and many signs of intrusion that would otherwise have set his hair on end were missed that day.Suddenly the air exploded with sound! Snow machines came whizzing from behind the rocks, directly at the pack. The 12 weary heads snapped up, they turned, and their legs began to churn snow. They ran at breakneck speed for the other end of the pass, where they would find safety and places to hide. Then, directly in front of them, more roaring of machines. They skidded to a halt, not knowing where to run.... In confusion, they milled around knocking into each other. Then came the sharp crack of gunfire. Sasha fell first, then Kaylis, and as the old silver male lunged at the closest human, he fell to the snow - mortally wounded. As his life slowly seeped into the snow, he vowed retribution, somehow.......... And then it was over, as quickly as it had begun. The humans made short work of their prey, and were on their way in less than an hour. Grey Ghost, Shadow and I watched the last part in horror. When the predators had gone, we sat in the cold snow, raised our heads to the night sky, and howled the Spirits of that pack home to the Great Mystery.
We left that place as the snow began to fall. It would cover the crimson stains, and come spring, there would be no sign of the holocaust that had taken place that night. But we would not forget.... the 2 spirit wolves and I. And we would relate the story to those who would listen. Maybe, just maybe, someone in power would care enough to stop this type of insanity.
Was it a dream, reality, a vision? Unfortunately it is all too real, all too often. Man, the ultimate predator, seems determined to make another species extinct. Only we who care, can stop the massacre........
Where have all the wild wolves gone
Long time passing
Where have all the wild wolves gone
Long time ago
Where have all the wild wolves gone
Gone to poachers, everyone
When will they ever learn
When will they ever learn......?

In the Edda, a collection of Old Norse poems assembled in the 13th century, twilight is called the shadow or the ear of the wolf.German mythology mentions gods who enter into wolves' skins, representing the sun hiding itself either in the night or in the snowy season of winter. The wolf is depicted on a Breton-issue coin ingesting or spitting out the sun and moon, which has been interpreted as the death and rebirth of the world. Similarly, nothern Gaulish coins portray the wolf devouring the sun, which is thought to symbolize the priest's or ruler's control of the supernatural. In Celtic myth, the trickster god Lok took the shape of a wolf as a great destroying power of the universe. The mythological wolf of the Celts was also believed to bring on the night by swallowing the sun.The Blackfoot and Pawnee Native American tribes called the Milky Way the "Wolf Road," and believed it to be a path worn across the heavens by the spirits of their dead ancestors. The wolf was considered the sacred animal of Mars, the planet of evil, plague, war and death. Many cultures have viewed the wolf as a guard to the land of the dead. Among them are Egyptians, Naskapi Cree and Canadian Inuit.
A werewolf is an animal from folklore believed to consume human flesh or blood, which can change from human to wolf and back again. (Wer is an Old English term for man.)While there are no documented cases of any human turning into a wolf and back, there are documented cases of humans who believed they were werewolves. To suffer from such a delusion is known as lycanthropy.Lycanthropic Disorder is a mental condition in which the subject (called a Lycanthrope) believes that he or she is a werewolf. The subject does not actually change shape, but is nevertheless capable of being as dangerous as an actual werewolf. Most cases of supposed werewolfry are really the works of Lycanthropic Disorder victims.A werewolf is traditionally defined as a half human half animal creature. In myth werewolves were described as blood thirsty predators which killed women and children. They were supposedly savage creatures, possessing the ability to transform into a half man half animal commonly called a "biped" for as well as a savage beast, normally this was a wolf. This myth is perpetuated by Hollywood films and books depicting werewolves as a creature to be feared and loathed. Some have speculated that certain excessively hirsute individuals resemble wolves and that the legend of the werewolf may have a basis in the genetic disorder known as hypertrichosis or in some other endocrine disorder, such as adrenal virilism, basophilic adenoma of the pituitary, masculinizing ovarian tumors, or Stein-Leventhal syndrome. We humans fear the beast within the wolf because we do not understand the beast within ourselves"---
The yearly rhythms of a pack revolve around the birth and rearing of each season's litter of pups. They are born as winter is loosening its grip on the land, later April and early May is most common, and take all summer and fall to grow into young wolves equipped for the next winter's wanderings. During the easy-going-summer, the pack limits its travels and devotes much attention to its newest members.Weighing about a pound, fuzzy, round-headed, pug-nosed and stump-tailed, the pups start life with their eyes closed, aware of little but their mother's voice, scent, warmth, and tongue, and their siblings' bodies, these stimuli forming lifetime bonds. In about a week their eyes open and after another week they may venture out of the den. For their first two weeks no adult wolf besides the mother is allowed in the denAt around a month old, the pups start to range farther out into their world, and at two months or so begin to transition from mother's milk to meat, getting their first servings straight from the mouths of adult wolves. About then, the den is abandoned and the pack moves to a "rendezvous", an outdoor home base where the pups romp and stalk their first insects and mice, until they are old enough to travel with the pack. By fourteen weeks, their tails have filled out, legs and muzzles have lengthened and they have become fair copies of the other pack members. All adults fuss over, play with and feed the pups by the efficient method of regurgitation. Wolves make much of puppies and put up with their pestering graciously. They will also easily adopt young from outside the pack. Once the mother rejoins the pack, a low ranking subordinate is often tagged the babysitter. While it's hard to imagine the hilariously inept pups transformed into tough, capable wolves, their bumbling play in fact hones skills they will depend on all their lives. By the time they are a few months old, littermates have sorted into a social patterns that mimic their adult packmates.
Long ago, an old wolf came to that time when his life on earth could last no longer. "My people," he said, "You can follow in my footsteps when the time comes for you to join me in the skyland." Then he left the earth, climbing higher and higher, and each place he stepped the sky filled with stars.Shunk man-i-tu tan-ka we call the wolves, the powerful spirits who look like dogs. When they climb the hills to lift their heads and sing toward that road of stars, there songs grow stronger as they join there voices.
