    Dermot Barrett, one time main front and centre vocalist for almost legendary(or is it mythical!) Dublin alternative band-Ten Speed Racer, returns to recording and playing music after an extended 'non-commercial break'. Maskedman is a musical project. It mainly revolves, for the moment, around the album "The Illusion of Grandeur". Maybe this will be the only album under the Maskedman title....we shall see. The album itself is a collection of 'Demos/ home recordings'. Live drums replaced the drum machine, the drums were done by the great Magne Lunde, a legend in Bergen and Norway. This was his 150th album to play on, in his illustrious career...but by the time we were finished mixing etc, he was well onto his 154th. It was the brilliant Hans Petter Gundersen that set this up and recorded the drums for two of the songs 'Daybreak' and 'On a Roll' in his Gjoa Studio. We shifted then to mixing engineer- Daniel Birkeland's Havnelagret Studios to finish the drums and record the live piano. The piano was played by the wonderful Petter Weiss-Hansen Folkedal, better known in Norway as Sergeant Petter. We had, already, the bass tracks (all done many years before by highly talented Patrick Barrett), all except on 'Coming of Age'. And that was played by Daniel, who also played Harmonic, his lovely Gibson accoustic guitar on it, and slide guitar on 'Revolving'.
