Lover of all things broken beat, Dj Randomplay has been regularly booked at Breakers Delight parties since they begun and also Quality Breakers (run by Page 3), TAG Parties, Analog (Snitch), True Believers (Andy Vann), Beat Freaks (Timmy Schumacher), Breakdown (Rob Salmon), Alpine Unity, Splore, Resolution, Summadayze , Deep Hard n’ Funky, Phat07, Phat 08, Phat 09, Phat Taster Series, Rhythm and Vines 08/09 and on the support bill for internationals Phil K(Aust), Nubreed (Aust), Tayo (UK), Freq Nasty (UK), Aphrodite (UK), Mr C (UK), BLIM (UK), Stanton Warriors (UK), Dopamine (AUS), The Rogue Element (UK), Elite Force (UK), The Freestylers (UK), Rennie Pilgrem (UK), Aquasky (UK), Baobinga & ID (UK), Bang Gang (AUST), NAPT, (UK), Sinden and Fake Blood (UK), Goodgroove Records presents: ‘Regrooved’ (Melbourne), Bass Camp (Melbourne) Aural Trash Summer/Winter Tours, Shenanigans (Wellington) and regular nights at Fu Bar. National clubs have included Subculture (Queenstown), Bath St (Dunedin), Capitol and Concrete (CHCH), Phat Club (Nelson), Studio Nine and Sandwiches (Wellington), Powderkeg and Projection Room (Ohakune), Buddha Lounge (Tauranga). Other past and present projects include ‘The Kingsland Electro’ on Thursday nights at Korova Bar, featuring Randomplay and Demus plus an established weekly guest from the house/breaks/electro scene. Also released is ‘The Kingsland Electro’ compilation CD, and was accompanied by a national tour in September ‘04 taking in 9 dates across the country, and again in 2005 - taking in most of the top clubs in the country across September and October of that year. New projects include ‘New School Funk’ in collaboration with Dalai to represent the full spectrum sound of hip hop and midtempo funk, breaks, dirty 4x4, dubstep and liquid drum and bass. Press: Randomplay lately co-hosted the ‘New School Funk’ radio show with Defcon1 and Dalai Fridays 10-midnight on George FM, however had to give up that slot with recent travels. Reaction to the mixed CD ‘The Kingsland Electro’ was extremely positive and reflected Demus and Randomplay’s commitment to local producers. Randomplay was also selected by Greg Churchill to play the 12-2 slot on ‘Greg Churchill day’, an idea undertaken by George FM where Greg chose the dj’s as programme director for one day.
