Biografia
When Jungle George went opposite ways, moving from the West Coast to the East Coast, he had no idea where to find musicians for his band, Power Pope. After all, he knew the Los Angeles scene really well, but the only thing he knew about New York City was that CBGB didn't exist anymore, that all the Ramones that deserved that name were dead and that Iggy Pop now lives in Miami. A week after he arrived in Lou Reed's city, Jungle saw Ian Hunter at the corner of 53rd and 3rd. The mythical leader of Mott The Hoople was having a hot dog. George offered him some mustard and asked: "Ian, what can I do to find musicians to play with me?, "Put an ad in a newspaper", answered the author of 'Honaloochie Boogie'. The next day Jungle spent 30 dollars on an ad that went like this: "I'm looking for a guitarist that knows how to play 'Jet Silver and the Dolls of Venus' from Bebop Deluxe, a discreet bassist like Steven Severin and a drummer that idolizes Keith Moon". George got no answers. No one showed up. That's when Jungle George decided to do what Paul McCartney did for his first solo album, 'McCartney' from 1970, and record all the instruments by himself. Piece of cake! The result is the EP 'Soldiers, Priests, Prostitutes and Rockers'. Play it loud! -
