What we have to say about ourselves... ....SCARLETT IN THE WILDERNESS ..are Oxford's Burlesque-tinged Gypsy Folk band, playing an amalgamation of folk, flamenco, ska, and blues, with heavy Eastern European, Balkan and Klezmer influences...and rather divine corsetry. They were the Winner of the Imsoc Oxford Battle of the Bands as judged by Imsoc, Nightshift Magazine and The Cherwell in 2010, as well as the winner of the May 2010 Demo of the Month in Nightshift Magazine. They also recently were awarded a support package worth £1500 from Rowan Arts by winning the Holloway Arts Festival Battle of the Bands. They have played at festivals such as the Oxford Folk Festival, Arcane Festival and Alchemy Festival and have shared stages with the likes of 3 Daft Monkeys, The Moulettes, The Rosie Taylor Project and Piotr Jordan. ............ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .."In this postmodern sounding chamber, somewhere betwixt gypsy folk, soulful ska and raw talent, you'll find a dreamy vocal love affair, virtuoso fiddle, flute and sax playing, stomping beats and many, many bizarre stories. How these six delight on so many levels perplexes me. They have, in music, the most beautiful kind of mental illness." - The Queen....

Love your track on Oxford Noise - great stuff. Especially the growl in your voice sometimes, and all the instrumental interplay. I think it's a really good collection of songs in fact!

Hello,How are you ? - Veruca Jones1 anno fa
What's goin' on Scarlett In The Wilderness? You ever remind me of the enigma of happy thoughts I once forgot. Your hair sends forth a sheen remniscent of golden sunlight winding through shadows. A starfish's lifelong hallucinations of gelatin pools and of actuaries floating upon the foam and reciprocal ohm. You are dressed with filaments and people take pains to make you fully incandescent this evening. Cities crumble, skies ignite spontaneously in your presence. Your sweet voice is like the application of aloe vera upon a sunburnt back. You have not yet reached the height of your creativity. I keep searching for you between the cushions. The sand runes crossing your divided consciousness do speak of contemptuous monsters being slayed by flying phoenixes. In your presence even my shadow acquires the sensation of touch. Your eyes are like spheres of crystal water filled with shimmering dreams. Your tears evoke a taste as memorable as honey. The expanse of your beauty is a void no universe could ever fill.

You best not be running away from this town... This being the one night none of us can make it down to the CLR show, sucks. Please play again soon, otherwise see you July 1st!
