What is FROM.UZ? FROM.UZ was formed in the summer of 2004 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, when guitarist Vitaly Popeloff, bassist Andrew Mara-Novik, drummer Vladimir Badirov, and composer/arranger Albert Khalmurzayev (keyboards) decided to play music together. Their first test of playing together live, was a performance of “Sodom and Gomorrah XXI,” composed by Albert Khalmurzaev for the Youth Theater of Uzbekistan. This only confirmed their wish to continue their collaboration. The first FROM.UZ concert made of self composed tracks took place in April, 2005 at the Youth Theatre of Uzbekistan, and was organized with the intent to test the results of their creative work on the public. One more purpose was also to record it and analyze everything afterwards. On the base of this concert the first album was Audio Diplomacy was released in 2007 via 10T Records. Nowadays FROM.UZ released 3 CD albums, 2 DVD concerts, participated in several international prog rock and blues festivals. The band is well known for the technical proficiency of its instrumentalists and considered to be one of the best progressive rock bands in Central Asia.
