Biography

The journey began in 2007 when the boys hit the road with fellow Central Coast band Something with Numbers. Quickly building a loyal fan base further national tours followed with The Lazys sharing the stage with bands such as Against Me (US), Hollywood’s Ms Juliette Lewis, UK’s The Answer and Aussie bands such as Gyroscope, The Living End, Grinspoon and more. They also secured many of their own headline tours and made festival appearances at both Come Together and Coaster festival.

In 2008, the band took their next step in the studio with producer Phil Mckellar (Grinspoon, Silverchair). The double-A side single 'All Fired Up/ Union of the Underdogs' was released in 2008 and caught the attention of Michael Chugg who put the boys forward for the inaugural JD set (Jack Daniels Set).

The boys then set off around Australia showcasing their unstoppable live show. In November 2008 after securing votes in excess of 3000, The Lazys were crowned JD Set winners and were presented the award in Melbourne by Gyroscope and Jabba (Channel V) to an overzealous audience.

2009 saw the boys sign their publishing over the Sony ATV and release their self titled debut EP. Recorded in the legendary Albert’s studios, home of ACDC, it’s a showcase of the bands shear ability and consistent development. Results in from Triple M’s best Aussie songs of 2009 saw track 1 from the EP ‘Hey Man’ come in at number 14. Sunshine City also making its mark on FOX Sports, being used as the theme song for its summer 09/10 campaign.

In 2010, The Lazys recorded their debut album ‘Prison Earth’. 'We wanted to write a record that represented us as people before musicians', says vocalist Leon Harrison. 'This is very important to the band and its why we play music.' The record introduces a new melodic dimension to The Lazys - without losing the musical attack, passion, and overall honesty that is so much a part of this band.

Songs such as ‘Hey Mr Mr’ and 'Authority' set the tone for the record: putting all bullshit aside and telling it how it is, while tracks such as 'Under Twilight' 'Renegades of 2010' and 'Second Hand Smoke' allow room for thought. The single 'All Fired Up' has received great attention from Triple M and was used throughout the 2010 NRL finals series. Last time The Lazys visited Cherry Bar (Melbourne) drew the attention of MMM and media personality Eddie McGuire who later called them “The Crazies”. Listen to his account of the night in our audio section!!

2012 is steaming ahead folks and The Lazys are making the most of every minute. At present they have finished recording yet another Ep titled 'Temptation Never Liked You' released in late 2011. The boys will be making a special apperance at The Gabba in Brisbane this summer firing up the crowd as part of their involvement with Brisbane Heat in the KFC 20/20 Big Bash Series. They will also be touring the ep nationally to celebrate its release throughout Jan and Feb. More on that soon!!

Added some reviews to Triple J Unearthed! Gzzz I am fucking loving your new songs hey! They are all so different from each other. Kiss your life away is so catchy! I can't wait to see that live! And Second hand smoke if different to any song I have heard of yours before! A lot slower and evokative! Can't wait to see a gig soon! xox
