Bio

With a live show more reminiscent of a religious cult and a sound somewhere between Fleetwood Mac and The Church, The Preachers' brand of hardworking Rock & Roll has made them one of Sydney's most exciting young bands. After releasing their self-titled EP in early 2010, the band began work on The 66 Project, an initiative that saw them collaborate with local artists, designers and filmmakers to release free demos for six months. In that time they have supported and played alongside acts like Black Cab, Ratcat, The Rubens, Cameras, WIM, and Guineafowl. Late last year The Preachers travelled to LA to record their second EP 'Shaking Hands', due out in 2012. Their first single 'Take a Card' is out now through ITunes and Bandcamp. Greetings all, firstly, thanks for dropping by, listening and taking the time to comment. I am currently collating an all Australian artists play list. I believe in many cases, the artists don’t get the exposure their talent warrants so I’ll do my bit to try and rectify that. Neither lists are definitive, so all requests are welcomed.  Also, any feed back is highly appreciated.

Fbi Unsigned Artist of the Week, May 2010

The Brag Indie Album of the Week (****)

For a debut, The Preachers have created an album that covers more ground than most bands would dare to cover on a full length. A truly stunning debut we at the AU review highly recommend.

- Larry Heath for AU Review

The three songs that make up the appetising sandwich filling on this EP have a sexuality to them that many artists these days either cannot muster or are too embarrassed to. I highly commend The Preachers for the promotion of singing adults. Sydney, please take note.

- Amy Robinson for Throwshapes

All fire and brimstone and dirty licks and howling that practically jumps out of your speakers and smacks you in the face. Think Chuck Berry, think Neil Young, then forget it all and just listen.

- Jonno Seidler for One a Day blog

Brilliant Debut and I can't wait to hear more.

- Mikey Carr for The Brag

Not unlike local contemporaries The Holy Soul, The Preachers’ sound nestles in the old-fashioned grunt of garage-blues instrumentation, Otis Redding-style soul melodies and a palpable aggressive energy which, when pushed and pulled in all the right places, is highly theatrical. Whatever message these preachers are preaching, it should catch on.

- Aidan Roberts Belles Will Ring

Their stage presence can be described as nothing less than an awe-inspiring mix of everything that’s great about live music.

- Jacinda Fermanis for Side Street Sydney

Another amazing and talented band to call Sydney home. It is fantastic to see an act that can be so fucking cool without following the current trends (that lo-fi ‘indie’ hipster shit I am so sick-of).

- The Gun Lab

I would even go as far to say The Preachers will be the next big thing in Sydney.

- The AU review

Their music is the equivalent of an old western bar run by a bunch of corrupt, drunken priests wallowing out their sorrows to the customers. And that’s not a bad thing.

- Alice Rezende for Rave Magazine

The debut from Sydney five piece the Preachers is nothing like anything out right now... [showcasing] their endless talents as a band, as well as their wide capacity for adapting to related styles and genres.

- Bianca Martin for Music for the Laundromat

Their music takes the best parts of Memphis musicianship and takes it to Sydney hipsters like the catholic church took Christianity to Africa; Destroying everything they once knew but giving them faith that there is something bigger to believe in.

- Jasper Clifford Smith Warhorse / Arkestra
