  • Biografia

    The Small Knives are a group from Melbourne, Victoria that formed from the ashes of avant-rock band 2 Litre Dolby. Usually consisting of two fellows, one named Leo Mullins, the other Philip Romeril; they play a beguiling mix of folk tinged song smithery, sorrowful harmonising and understated, droned heartbreak. Their debut album “Rain on Tin” was released in 2004 with much ballyhoo from the presses. Uncut magazine called it “mesmerising”, “Album of the year” from X-press magazine Perth, the Age newspaper said it “resonates with melodic loveliness and a subdued sense of melancholy” and Phil’s mum said “yeah it’s good.” The Small Knives have played plenty of live shows in most regions of Australia and have preformed alongside The Dirty Three, Bonnie Prince Billy, Conway Savage, Art of Fighting and Lambchop to name a few. They spent 2006 recording their second album “Smoke and Ribbons”, and it should be out, like, now, on the new Plastic Viking Helmet label. In early 2007 they played at the Dirty Three curated All Tomorrows Parties Festival in England. .... Here is the video clip for the track "Summer" taken from the new album "Smoke and Ribbons".
