Cameron Semmens

Bio:

Cameron earned his Diploma of Performing Arts at The Australian College of Entertainment in 1996. He’s published 7 books and 3 CD of his poetry and has been performing his poetry and running workshops for over a decade in schools, churches, pubs, conferences and festivals.

In 2004 he worked as an artist in residence for Café Church, Glebe and came 2nd in The New Media Poetry Prize of the Australian Poetry Festival. In 2001, he toured country NSW with the Poets Union’s Poets on Wheels Tour, and in 1999 he won the NSW Writers Centre Poetry Cup. He is currently, happily based in Melbourne.

We're talking straight-up poetry - it's just me baby!

But I have started up a thing called CHEVALET
Essentially this is an umbrella name under which I will combine my poetry with different musicians.

I have just finished my very first project under the Chevalet name with Rod Gear. The album is called A Souvenir of Sadness and a Bottle of Bliss. It is nothing but spoken word and double bass! Both Rod and I are very proud of it.
